When you are looking for himitsubako puzzle boxes, you often encounter a word "sun" e.g. 4sun, 5sun etc.
Sun is pronounced su-n and in Japanese 寸. Sun is not like English word Sun, but it is old fashioned measurement of length. 1sun is about 3cm, so 4 sun means 12cm.
With himitsubako, sun indicates the wideth of the box, so 4sun box means the wideth of 12cm.
You can find 2.5sun very small sized himitsubako, but the most popular size is 4sun himitsubako.
This is a good size for kids and for a souvenir, and it is still large enough to store things in it.
If you prefere something bigger than 4 sun, then 5 sun himitsubako would be better option.
At my store the size goes up to 7 sun size, but it can be very expensive.
