Shachihoko is an imaginary creature with the head of a dragon and the body of a fish.
There is a legend that says, when a building or house are on fire, Shachihoko spews out water and puts the fire out. Following the legend, Shachihoko has been put on roofs as a guardian god.
The Shachihoko is posed with its tail up. But when Mr. Arimura sees him, he feels that it needs a rest because it must be hard to maintain that pose for a long time. It appears to him that it is saying that "I'm so tired... I want to stretch and take a rest...". That is a clue to open the box.
I found this puzzle very hard to open personally and it is pretty as a display object.
